Hey everyone!
I've been working very hard during the last day to improve the controls as much as I could. A new build is on its way to Apple and I would love to hear your feedback on it. It's version 0.9.2 (5976). I really hope we can nail the controls down, so we can finally move on to the actual game. Thanks!

Another update is coming soon. It includes: - Camera moves much smoother when turning with character (as suggested by three3pryme) - Thugs / goons don't shoot when off camera - Increased player health - In general, Thug Wars is a lot easier now - Bug fix that caused guards not to appear after loading a game

Great! As for the second change regarding thugs no longer shooting off screen, how will that work since there are 2 levels of zooming the camera while on foot?

Well, I don't anticipate any issue there, since all that's gonna happen is that they will start shooting at you when you see them, otherwise they'll continue advancing towards you until they are visible. It's fair game really. Another option is: If they were visible at some point, they can continue shooting. Finally, I'm thinking about just killing the zoom function altogether. It's really just a workaround that should never have been there in the first place.

In my opinion, the zoom is a nice feature but isn’t needed on foot. But in a plane or fast car it can be pretty useful for seeing further ahead of you and dodging nuisances (cars, obstacles, etc.). Maybe it doesn’t have to zoom out as far but I personally think it’s a nice feature.

Alright, we can leave it as it is and see if it causes any issues.

Just curious, how are the new on-foot controls working out so far?

They are working out great so far! Don’t have any complains I can think of for the new controls this time around.

Really glad to hear that. There is a new update coming out very soon. It fixes several issues (in particular with the mission "Assassin") and introduces a more adaptive UI.

Oh I just found an issue with the controls. I've reduced the turning speed of the character a bit to make the movement look a bit smoother, but as a result, when you try to shoot at something you basically shoot all over the place while your character turns. I've fixed it now by making the character turn instantaneously when the weapon is active. On a side note, zombies had an insane attack rate because of a bug. It's fixed now as well. Will submit an update ASAP.

Can the right side turning controller be shifted down so it's centralised between the health bar and the bottom icons instead of in the middle of the screen? I personally find it a little uncomfortable in that location as I find it a bit too high up. Might just be me

Hm, I feel that perhaps we should just use the right joystick for this purpose (in vertical mode). It would also make the UI feel more consistent throughout. The controls would remain the same, but the reference point of steering would simply move down.

I am not sure about that one. I actually like the current controls for vehicles, I don't think using twin stick makes much sense. Most of the stick will be useless, as you only pivot up and down.

Alright, the reason for its current placing on the screen is that the reference point is the exact middle of the screen. The steering was originally designed in a way that the controlled object follows your finger, so it made sense to have the reference aligned with the default direction of the object. I will give it a try and see how it feels like.
