As Clinkzbone pointed out, the cities in the game are quite boring, because they are identical in the blocks they use. Now I cannot make every city completely unique, but I might be able to randomize parts of it. Instead of having the exact same arrangements in every block, the blocks would be further randomized into smaller sub-blocks. Doing this will increase the memory profile of the game, however, I've decided to completely remodel the entire map into a smaller more compact map with a more familiar feel to it. There's really no point in having a massive map when you can't make any good use of it. I intend to reduce the entire game to one island with different terrain. We'll have some sandy terrain near the beach, then grassy terrain with forest and at the very center, there will be snowy terrain. Rather than having 20+ cities, there's only going to be ten bigger ones, with more decorative buildings. The island will have three airports and three seaports. The separation between various terrain will be done via elevation, with the highest region in the center being snowy.

The layout of the new map. It's significantly smaller than the current map! Everything will be closer together and the reduced memory usage will allow us to focus on making cities more complex in their layout. It'll also be nicer to have different terrains all in one island. Orange: Highway Yellow: Road Green: City Red: Special Facility Purple: Airport Cyan: Seaport Star: Initially controlling faction. MX: Mission Location Also, there's still enough room to add more cities in the future. Let me know what you think. Any suggestions?

Test run on the new block generator. Do not be alarmed by the repetitive nature of the graphics, there will be plenty of variations in both their appearance as well as in their size. Between the many blocks there's going to be all essential buildings that you know, however they will be smaller to fit in with the remaining blocks, which I think is better anyway. Most of the current buildings are way oversized for their purpose.

I'm currently still working on city / town generation, while cleaning up the graphics. The next step will be to add small decorative objects, like a walkway to each house and perhaps some small flower pots etc. Hope you like the new look.

Marvelous! Things are already looking better! However if I may add constructive criticism, looks arent everything. I suggest brainstorming activities one can do inside a city or town, greater than beforehand as well. Some examples can include: Gambling at a casino, illegal activities and jobs such as drag races (could be at night or something), some buildings can be unique to cities and serve specific purposes such as a mafia/Crime HQ, potentially minigames of some sort. But I'm mainly suggesting a brainstorm for buildings in the city to give the cities a little more pizazz. What I'm suggesting is vague and probably hard to implement, but I would just like to hear your thoughts on it I havent played current build too far so some of my basic suggestions may already be in the game. Ps. Sorry I havent been able to test recently, I've been going through a few personal issues.
